Botany is also called plant biology/phytology. Study of plants is vital because they undergo almost all animal life on earth by generating large proportions of oxygen and food. M.Sc. Botany is the study of how plants produce food and how to increase the yield. This programme focuses on the study of weeds which is a problem in agriculture, and the biology to control pathogens. A botanist can work as a technical assistance, field assistance and scientific assistance in both private and government sectors. Various private firms like nursery farms and environmental consultancies are also good options for a botanist
Eligibility
The candidate should have a B.Sc. degree in Botany or other Allied Medical Sciences, with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognized institute
