On 14th November 2024, Day-3 of the Three Days Lecture Series on “To Know & Meet the Law Department” was successfully conducted at the Seminar Hall, Faculty of Law, Khaja Bandanawaz University. The focus of this session was on Crime & Society, aimed at enlightening students about the intersection of criminal law and social issues, along with discussions on preventive measures and social reforms.
The event began at 2:00 PM and was anchored by Md. Mustafa Ayub, a student of LL.B-3 Years, who introduced the session and set the tone for a thought-provoking discussion. The proceedings were carried out in collaboration with Ameena Fatima, also a student of LL.B-3 Years, who welcomed the audience and provided an overview of the session's objectives.
The program commenced with a welcome speech by Ameena Fatima, who highlighted the importance of understanding the relationship between crime and society. Following her, Shaikh Shaista, a student of LL.B-3 Years, delivered an introductory presentation on the chief guest, Adv. Syed Mastan, a renowned Criminal Lawyer at the High Court. Shaista gave a detailed account of Adv. Mastan's career and his significant contributions to the legal field, building anticipation for his talk.
The highlight of the event was the keynote address by Adv. Syed Mastan, who spoke on the crucial topics of Preventive Measures and Social Reforms and the Role of Technology & Media in Addressing Crime. Adv. Mastan shared his extensive insights on how crime affects society and the various steps that can be taken to reduce criminal activities. He emphasized the importance of social reforms in the justice system, the need for rehabilitation of offenders, and the role of community engagement in preventing crime.
Adv. Mastan also discussed how technology and media can be powerful tools in addressing crime, raising public awareness, and ensuring transparency in the justice process. He touched upon how advancements in technology are aiding in crime detection, surveillance, and law enforcement, making it more efficient and effective in combating crime.
Additionally, Adv. Mastan provided valuable advice on scoring marks in examinations, offering tips and strategies on how students can approach their studies and exams with focus, discipline, and consistency. His practical guidance was well received by the attendees, who found his insights on both academic and professional success inspiring.
Prof. Nishat Arif Hussaini, Dean of the Faculty of Law, addressed the gathering. In her speech, she highlighted the significance of understanding the relationship between crime and society in shaping effective legal systems. She commended the organizing team for the success of the lecture series and expressed her gratitude to Adv. Mastan for his insightful contribution.
